Simona Abagiu, student at Academy of Economic Studies decided to apply for the Global Talent Programme. She was member of AIESEC and since then she was interested for this opportunity, so she applied for an internship in Brazil at Minds English School. There she was an english teacher, so her responsibility was to taught classes daily, both grammar and conversation,to correct materials and develop several conversation classes materials. Also she presented a class about Romanian culture for the students and staff at the school.
Even if she work, she has time to enjoy this experience with the other GIP trainees; with her students, roommates and workmates. She also managed to travel to some other cities with the other trainees. Her best trip were to Iguassu Falls, the famous waterfalls.
This internship was an opportunity for her to learn more about brazilian culture, that people around the world are not so different from each other and that we all share some fears and insecurities. She learn that Brazilians are very helpful, but also very relaxed and that many of them don’t travel very much. Also it was very hepful for her professional future, because she learn Portuguese.
Her recommendation for the other students that choose to take this opportunity is to have an open mind regarding the culture they are getting to know. Her message was: “It is very important to always remember that nobody owes you anything and you are responsible for your own experience. If you are in a difficult situation, try to ask as many people as you know about the options you have, because you never know who will be able to help you.”
